Welcome Letter

It is our pleasure to welcome your family to Lilly Pilly South Early Learning Centre. Lilly Pilly South took over an existing centre in 2004, our vision and motivation was to provide families in the Toormina/Boambee area with high quality care and education within a supportive, nurturing, stimulating and engaging environment

Located at 42 Amaroo Crescent, Toormina, just metres from surrounding schools and the local shopping centre, Lilly Pilly South ELC strives to deliver excellence in early learning to all of our families. Lilly Pilly South ELC provides an environment where parents and teachers work together, assisting each child's development to enable them to reach their full potential.

Our centre has a team of six qualified staff and we are open Monday to Friday (7.30am- 6.30pm) 50 weeks of the year. Lilly Pilly South ELC caters for children aged from 15 months. We have a comprehensive school readiness program and also hold an annual children's art show and many other celebrations throughout the year. Lilly Pilly South ELC is active in facilitating a Fast Feet fitness program, providing a variety of modified sports, while Carla Marchant from Coffs Coast Kids Club visits weekly, taking the children through a yoga session as well as Japanese Language lessons on Mondays and Fridays.

Our dedicated staff look forward to sharing this special time with you.

Warm Regards,
Moira Pratt

Our Philosophy

At Lilly Pilly South Early Learning Centre we strive to provide quality Child Care and Education within a supportive, nurturing, stimulating and engaging environment.

We believe that children are capable, competent and active learners and important contributors in their community.

We acknowledge and respect each individual child, family and staff member in regard to culture, gender and lifestyle.

We believe that positive outcomes for children can be best achieved in environments and communities that are free from discrimination, where children can feel they belong and can be safe and where their rights and views are respected.

We respect the special relationship between children and their families and incorporate this perspective in all interactions with children. Families are encouraged to share their culture, language and home experiences with the centre and are also encouraged to participate in the centre and share in the decision making.

We aim to promote education and awareness of our local and wider community, and to encourage members of the community to be involved by participating in our programs and children's awareness of global issues.

Our traditional landowners are the Gumbaynggirr clan.

We believe that it is in the early childhood years that the foundations are laid for the development of environmentally responsible adults.

In supporting this philosophy we aim to:
  • Value and work together as a team with families and staff. Through open communication we have an awareness of parental needs and expectations, valuing their input at all times.
  • Program on the basis that play is the essential learning tool for children. Staff will use a variety of Learning Stories to document children's unique interests and achievements. Developmentally appropriate activities are programmed for children based on the EYLF (Early Years Learning Framework) and focusing on the individual child's strengths, interests and needs. The programs provide for all areas of development, creating opportunities for children to enhance their learning outcomes. We acknowledge that children's voices are the most important part of our program.
  • Educators capitalise on spontaneous teachable moments extending children's learning and take a guiding role in asking provocations through intentional teaching.
  • Educate the children and families on the importance of physical exercise and a healthy lifestyle which impacts on their everyday life.
  • Staff are encouraged and supported to continue their personal development and education by attending relevant early childhood services and updating qualifications. Emphasis is placed on maintaining an awareness of early childhood practices and trends.
  • We acknowledge and support that Early Childhood Educators have their own personal strengths, personal philosophy, professional experience and diversity, which they bring to the centre.
  • Develop and implement a sustainability program that encourages efficiency in the use of energy and water, better waste management, and environmentally friendly policies and practices.
